Understanding SMS Tokens and Billing
Use this guide to understand how SMS Tokens support booking alerts, reminders, and customer messages.
Open subscriptionCheck the SMS Token wallet
SMS Tokens are used when the business sends eligible SMS messages. The wallet helps you see the available balance before reminders or campaigns run.
Estimated time: about 3 minutes for a quick wallet and plan check.
- Open Subscription from the workspace navigation.
- Review the SMS Token balance.
- Check whether any trial SMS Tokens have an expiration date.
- Add more SMS Tokens before the balance gets too low.
Choose the first paid SMS package
The free 14-day Starter trial includes 100 trial SMS Tokens and does not require a package. When you activate paid Starter for the first time, choose one SMS package or select Skip for now before secure checkout opens. If you skip, SMS sending remains unavailable after the trial Tokens expire until you buy SMS Tokens.
- Select Activate Early Access or Subscribe annually.
- Choose the package that fits your expected message volume.
- Review the annual plan price, one-time package price, and estimated subtotal.
- Continue to secure checkout to review the final total and tax.
Purchased SMS Tokens do not expire. Any unused trial SMS Tokens still follow the original trial expiration date. After the first paid checkout, future Starter renewals do not require another package.
Understand when tokens are used
SMS Tokens are charged by SMS segment. A long message, certain special characters, or emoji can split one message into multiple segments. The preview shown before a manual send includes the business name and required opt-out text so the estimate matches the final SMS. Email and in-app notifications do not use SMS Tokens.
- Booking confirmations and reminders may use SMS Tokens when SMS is enabled.
- Business booking alerts may use SMS Tokens when Alert Settings include SMS.
- Marketing SMS requires proper customer permission before it can be sent. Review SMS Program Help for STOP, HELP, privacy, and support details.
- The number of SMS Tokens used is the segment count multiplied by the business's configured SMS Tokens per segment.
Keep billing actions intentional
Only owners or managers responsible for payment should make billing changes.
- Review the plan summary before checkout.
- Confirm add-on details before buying SMS Tokens.
- Contact support if a payment or token balance does not look right, then recheck the Go-Live Checklist.
